About Us

Under the leadership of Dr. Paul Christensen, Potomac MesoSystems is developing next generation techniques for fabrication and integration of highly miniaturized electronic system infrastructure – power, signal processing/communication, and packaging.

Building upon work begun nearly a decade ago under the DARPA Mesoscale Integrated Conformal Electronics program and extended more recently with support from the National Science Foundation, we combine precision laser fabrication techniques, nanomaterials, and advanced battery and energy scavenging technology to produce an innovative approach to  mesoscale infrastructure.  Our systems typically have a volume of less than 1 cubic centimeter and are built from components with dimensions ranging from a few microns to a few millimeters.  With more than 20 years of experience in fabrication of tiny components, the transition to their integration to form mesoscale systems is a natural one.

Our new approach to fabrication simplifies implementation of new system concepts. It has the potential to reduce size, cost and maintenance requirements of many mesosystems currently on the market. Our technology is available on a service or contract basis to miniature system manufacturers worldwide.

Our Business model

Potomac MesoSystems provides fabrication services and engineering support to miniature system designers and end users.  With full access to the microfabrication and assembly capabilities of our partner Potomac Photonics and an extensive network of associates in software and test, we can accelerate product development from prototype through production.
