Miniature wireless gas sensors

Potomac MesoSystems has developed a signal processing, wireless communication, and power platform like that shown on the right for  amperometric gas sensors.  The overall sensor size is 20mm x 28 mm x 7mm and wireless connectivity is provided by a 2.4 GHz transceiver.  In this example the sensor is optimized for CO detection.

Amperometric sensors exhibit very low power consumption, and this sensor platform was designed to allow 1 year of operation from a single 16mm coin cell battery.  The miniature control module contains a MSP430G2553 microcontroller and dual op amp signal conditioning for sensor signals in microamp range.
